Esoteric
Massage

About Esoteric Massage

Esoteric Massage is a deeply relaxing and gentle massage technique. Often as we move through the day our body adjusts to the way we conduct ourselves by taking on tension, hardness and other patterns of movement that aren't natural to us and don’t feel good.

Esoteric Massage assists us to let go of this build-up of tension and helps the body return to a freedom of movement that is easier and more natural. This unique form of massage is effective, as it supports the release of ingrained tensions and patterns of holding without utilising rigorous or painful massage techniques, providing a deeply nurturing experience for the body at the same time.

Esoteric Massage is a stand-alone therapy when it comes to providing functional support and flow of movement to the body. Within the modality there are a wide variety of techniques that can be applied, depending on the physical needs of the client.

One of the benefits of Esoteric Massage is that it not only addresses the functional/ physical aspect of the body’s wellbeing, but also addresses the energetic mechanism that leads to dis-harmonious states within muscle groups. For this reason many have reported that they find it sustaining and transformative, offering us the opportunity to deepen our relationship  with our body and the way it has responded to how we have chosen to live.

It is frequently used in conjunction with other Universal Medicine Therapies within a treatment session and can be used very safely in conjunction with existing medical support.

What to expect during a session

Your session will usually begin with an opportunity for you to talk to your practitioner and discuss anything you are feeling in your body as well as how you are generally, what issues you might currently be dealing with or any emotional blocks you might be experiencing. From here, the practitioner will recommend the massage techniques that will be most supportive for your session.

Depending on the massage you will be asked to remove your outer garments (down to the bra for women).

At no stage during an Esoteric Massage will you be required to remove your underwear and in fact you are welcome to wear short shorts or bike pants for your own comfort.

During the massage you will be kept warm with heated towels and eye pillows and any area not being massaged remains covered to ensure your body is warm and supported throughout.

Many people experience a deep state of relaxation and sometimes you will fall asleep during a session. This is a normal part of the body surrendering to the healing experience.

At the end of the massage (the massage itself lasts around 40 minutes) you will have opportunity to debrief with your practitioner. A series of massages can greatly assist in providing a consistent marker of your body’s natural state and freedom in movement. This can then be nurtured in the way you choose to hold yourself in your day-to-day living.
